Stas Zhyrkov

Stas Zhyrkov is a director and theater manager. Together with Ksenia Romashenko, he founded the independent Open View Theater in 2008. From 2014 to 2019 he was the artistic director of the Golden Gate Theater before moving to the Left Bank Theatre as artistic director from 2019 to 2022. On February 24, 2022, the Ukrainian director fled Kyiv with his family. Ever since he has been living in exile and successfully staged productions at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Münchner Kammerspiele. Stas Zhyrkov has a close working relationship with the playwright and author Maryna Smilianets, which has already resulted in numerous joint productions, including their latest collaboration Tell.
